When to Visit
Tanzania's two circuits reward slightly different seasons — here's how to think about timing.
June to October is Tanzania's long dry season and the most popular travel window: minimal rainfall, concentrated wildlife around permanent water sources, and reliable road conditions.
December to March covers the short dry season and calving season on the southern Serengeti plains, with excellent predator action and fewer crowds than peak season.
April and May are the long rains — many camps close, but rates drop significantly and the landscape is at its greenest for photography.
